How To: Wear A Romper For Any Occasion

Hello Lovelies!

Summer is in full swing and everyone seems to be happier! Warm weather can certainly have wonderful effects and dressing up is one of them. I'm sure many of you have already tried the rompers and jumpsuits that are super trendy right now. I thought it would be fun to do a post on how best to wear rompers and look good doing it for a number of different occasions :)

First some general tips:
  • Pick the right length. Make sure the hemline is not too short and you can still bend with ease.
  • Buy the right fit and size. A super tight fit is not very flattering as it can accentuate all the wrong places. Camel toe, anyone? I didn't think so.
  • Try floral prints, geometric prints, bright colors and neutrals. You never know which trends will look better on you until you try it first in the privacy of a dressing room (don't forget to bring a friend so you can get a helpful second opinion).
  • Neutrals are a safe bet, but rompers are a fun choice of outfit, so why not pick a bright, bold shade to really embrace the trend?
  • Belt it! This gives instant definition and highlights your waist. Some rompers feel a bit unflattering in the mid-section and a simple belt solves this problem.
Here are some ways to wear a romper for any occasion:
Rompers - Night vs. Day
{Created by Silk and Spice}
Look 1: This is a fun look that can be worn at night, to dinner and then dancing. The black and white palette keeps it elegant and grown up, but the print and pompom details add some fun. Strappy silver metallic heels and a light pink box clutch complement the look. You can put your hair in a sleek ponytail, add some tiny earrings and silver midi rings to finish off the outfit. Keeping accessories to a minimum makes this look suitable for going out and helps you avoid looking like a teenager.

Look 2: For a daytime look, I picked this muted coral romper with fun cutouts in the back. Comfy sandals in the same color and a waist cinching gold metal belt pull the look together, while the turquoise clutch add another pop of color and compliments the statement necklace. I would wear my hair in a bun so the back of this romper is visible.

Rompers: Festival Style vs. Brunch Style
{Created by Silk and Spice}
Look 1: This look is perfect for a summer festival because of it's bohemian feel. The floral pattern and pom pom detail is very playful and I kept that in mind when adding accessories. The floral crown, ID necklace, friendship bracelets and fringe bag all work effortlessly for this look. A bright coral lip and fun orange nails scream summer, while the closed-toe boots offer a practical and comfortable approach to concert footwear.

Look 2: Long sleeves and a flowy silhouette easily make this romper seem very ladylike and elegant, perfect for Sunday brunch! Adding bright coral pumps and a deep teal top handle bag lock in the ladylike vibe and add a pop of color at the same time. A thin silver belt is a great way to cinch in the waist and prevent a pouffy mid-section. Nude lips, light nails and wavy hair would do nicely to finish off this look.
Romper: Bold vs. Classic
{Created by Silk and Spice}
Look 1: Rompers are a fun, trendy piece of clothing and the best way to wear it would be in a bold shade like turquoise, chartreuse, cobalt, or fuchsia. This outfit would be perfect to wear on vacation, for a day of exploring. The fedora gives shade from the sun and the loose fit of the romper will help to keep you cool. Cutout gladiator sandals and a bright yellow clutch complete the outfit. You could add a delicate necklace or rings if you feel like you need some jewelry.

Look 2: This is a perfect date night look in my opinion. It delivers classic style, with that va-va-voom effect. The romper is sleek and flowy, girly and edgy all at once. I absolutely love the neckline and cutout detailing. Paired with thin, strappy sandals and a leopard print clutch, all this looks needs is a red lip and gold hoops. Feel free to add a gold watch or midi rings. Even a bold cuff would work well.
